I WAS JUST LOOKING AT THE LIST of the most popular names for newborn babies in 2014. For 2015 I assume we won’t know for a while what names will make the Top Ten.
When I first saw the list of girl’s names I was struck by how “traditional” and even 19th century many of them seemed.
EVERY DAY OF OUR LIVES we are faced with a never ending barrage of choices.
From the moment we first open our eyes we have to make one decision after another. Should I close my eyes again and go back to sleep – or – Should I get up and got to work or school or whatever?
I JUST FINISHED CHECKING our lottery ticket to see if we had suddenly become the Nouveau Riche while sitting in the corner at St. Arbucks.
We didn’t.
WHEN I WAS A KID, back when dinosaurs roamed the ear
th, there weren’t that many things that depended on batteries. Cars, of course, but after that it was down to transistor radios (under 30s – look it up), and some toys.
MY WIFE, THE LOVELY AND INSPIRING Dawn, and I have been doing a lot of “Binge Watching” lately. We have viewed our way through the entire “Breaking Bad” series, “House of Cards,” “White Collar,” “True Detective,” and a few others.
It may be entertaining, but it’s not a way to encounter much worth thinking about later.
A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO I conducted an experiment with this blog. After a lengthy fact finding mission into darkest WordPress I discovered that the blogs with the largest following offered either recipes or advice on whatever.
I WAS AT A LOSS THIS MORNING about what should be the topic of today’s blog posting. Nothing much has happened in my life lately. The dog next door has been quiet. St. Arbucks is under sedation right now, except for “Hawaiian Shirt Happy Hour.”
This called for some in depth analysis of the situation.
